Jamu Recipe | Indonesian Turmeric Ginger Drink

A refreshing traditional Indonesian drink packed with health benefits, particularly for weight loss.

Ingredients

  • 1 inch fresh turmeric, peeled and sliced
  • 1 inch fresh ginger, peeled and sliced
  • 4 cups water
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Honey, to taste (or agave/stevia)

Instructions

  1. Gather your ingredients and prepare them by cleaning and slicing.
  2. Boil 4 cups of water in a pot over medium heat.
  3. Add the sliced ginger and turmeric to the boiling water.
  4. Reduce heat and let simmer for 10–15 minutes to infuse flavors.
  5. Strain the mixture using a fine mesh strainer into a bowl.
  6. Stir in fresh lemon juice and honey for sweetness.
  7. Serve warm or cold, based on preference.

Notes

For a detox version, add a pinch of cayenne pepper for extra benefits.
