Basil Seed Drink

A refreshing, low-calorie beverage made with basil seeds, water, and optional flavorings that promote hydration and help curb appetite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons basil seeds
  • 1 to 2 cups water or coconut water
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon or lime juice
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons natural sweetener (optional)
  • Fresh fruit slices or mint (optional)

Instructions

  1. Measure and rinse the seeds. Place basil seeds in a small bowl and rinse briefly under cold water.
  2. Add liquid to hydrate. Pour cold water or coconut water over the seeds, stir to prevent clumping, and let sit for 10 to 15 minutes.
  3. Stir and check consistency. After 10 minutes, stir gently and ensure the seeds are evenly hydrated.
  4. Add flavorings. Mix in lemon juice and sweetener to taste; stir until dissolved.
  5. Chill and serve. Add ice or refrigerate for 20 minutes; garnish with mint or fruit slices. Drink immediately for best texture.
  6. Store leftovers carefully. Keep in a sealed container in the fridge for up to 48 hours.
